YURU TPO Waterproof Membrane

Waterproof Membrane

YURU TPO waterproof membrane

TPO waterproofing membrane is a sheet-shaped, rollable waterproofing material made of advanced processing technology, using thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) material that combines ethylene propylene (EP) rubber and polypropylene using advanced polymerization technology as the base material, polyester fiber mesh fabric as the carcass reinforcement material. This material has both the long-term weather resistance and durability of ethylene propylene (EP) rubber and the weldability of polypropylene. A layer of polyester fiber fabric is sandwiched between the two layers of TPO material to enhance its physical properties and improve its breaking strength, fatigue resistance and puncture resistance. The upper surface of the reinforcement layer TPO has a highly reflective, light-colored, smooth surface mainly in white, which is beneficial to environmental protection and construction safety because it does not contain chlorine.

Features & Benefits

YURU TPO waterproof membrane

Special formula technology

Special formula technology does not require the addition of any plasticizers that can easily make the material brittle. It has high flexibility and does not cause the phenomenon of general polyolefin materials becoming brittle due to plasticizer migration. It maintains long-term waterproof function.

puncture resistance

There is a layer of polyester fiber fabric sandwiched in the middle, which provides the roll with high tensile properties, fatigue resistance, and puncture resistance, and is suitable for mechanically fixed roof systems.

Chemical resistance

Chemical resistance, resistance to acid, alkali, salt, animal oil, vegetable oil, lubricating oil corrosion, resistance to the growth of algae, mold and other microorganisms.

Heat-aging resistance

Heat-aging resistance and good dimensional stability. Light color, mainly white, with smooth surface, high reflectivity, energy saving effect and pollution resistance.

Good weather resistance

Excellent high and low temperature resistance, maintaining flexibility at -40°C and mechanical strength at higher temperatures.

Safety and environmental protection

The ingredients do not contain chlorinated polymers or chlorine. There is no chlorine reaction during welding and use, and it is harmless to the environment and human health.

Scope of application

TPO waterproof membrane application range

  • Roof waterproofing: TPO waterproof membrane can be widely used for waterproof protection of various roof structures, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, special-shaped roofs, etc.
  • Basement waterproofing: TPO waterproof membrane can perfectly meet the needs of basement waterproofing projects, including basic waterproofing, exterior wall waterproofing, interior wall waterproofing, floor waterproofing, etc.

  • Pond waterproofing: TPO waterproof membrane has excellent corrosion resistance and chemical resistance, which can prevent leakage, penetration and leakage of various types of ponds, pools and other water bodies, ensuring the quality and service life of the water body.

  • Tunnel waterproofing: TPO waterproof membrane can withstand high-intensity wind, water pressure and earth pressure, and can achieve multiple functions such as tunnel waterproofing, sound insulation, heat insulation, and fire prevention, providing protection for tunnel construction and use.

Thermal welding system for TPO waterproof membrane

The TPO membrane seams are bonded by hot air. Through heat welding, the adjacent membranes are overlapped to form a bonding layer with a strength higher than the membranes, forming a continuous sealing waterproof layer for the entire membrane. Heat welding is suitable for fixing various membranes to the base layer.

TPO membrane mechanically fixed roofing system

TPO membrane roofing system is generally fixed mechanically. That is, the TPO membrane is laid on the base layer (or the fixed insulation board) in the air, and the adjacent lower membrane overlap area is fixed to the base layer with mechanical fastening screws and fixing gaskets. The overlap of the upper and lower membranes is welded by hot air welding to connect the membranes into an integral sealed waterproof layer. The outer edge of the joint is sealed with sealing paste according to the needs of the project.

Key points for construction of mechanical fixed surface system

●Base: The base for laying TPO coils should be solid, flat, clean and dry. The deformation joints should be sealed according to the design, and TPO coils should be added as an additional layer.
●TPO coil pre-laying: The coils should be laid in a predetermined position, flat and straight, without twisting or overlapping of adjacent coils.
●Mechanical fixation of the lower coil in the overlap area.
●Hot welding in the overlap area, the width of the overlap area of adjacent coils is generally 150mm (long side), the upper coil covers the mechanical fasteners of the lower coil, the welding area should be cleaned before and after welding the overlap edge, and then welded evenly with a manual welding gun (or automatic welding machine).

● Additional waterproofing of typical details:
● For typical details such as three-sided corners, pipe edges, etc., non-reinforced TPO water-injected base material is used as an additional waterproof layer, and hot air welding is used to weld it to the main waterproof layer.
● The end of the vertical TPO roll is mechanically fixed with a metal strip. It is advisable to embed water-stopping sealing materials on the base before fixing, and finally seal it with sealing paste.

TPO membrane bonding system

The base layer and the bottom surface of the roll are fully coated with base adhesive (it can also be applied in spots, strips or empty according to actual conditions), and the adjacent rolls are overlapped and welded by hot air welding. The edges are sealed with sealing paste.

The bonding method is suitable for various types of buildings with cement concrete base, construction technology and key process operations, which is the same as various types of polymer waterproof rolls bonded with adhesives.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled the most frequently asked questions about our waterproof materials here for your convenience, but please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.

TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a single-ply white membrane used in both commercial and residential roofing. Due to TPO being a white membrane, it reflects heat instead of absorbing it. If you have a flat roof or a low-slope dormer over a bedroom, TPO is a great option because it’ll keep the room below cooler.
