Shanghai-Suzhou-Tongjiang Yangtze River Highway-Rail Bridge is a passage connecting Suzhou and Nantong in Jiangsu Province, China. It is located upstream of the Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge and downstream of the Jiangyin Yangtze River Highway Bridge. It is a common crossing channel for the Tongxi Expressway, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Tongjiang Railway, and the Tongsu-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-Speed Railway. It crosses the Jiangsu section of the Yangtze River and is the world’s longest dual-use highway-railway cable-stayed bridge. It is also the world’s first 4-line railway and 6-lane highway cable-stayed bridge.
Shanghai-Suzhou-Tongjiang Yangtze River Highway-Rail Bridge started construction on March 1, 2014; the entire bridge was completed on September 20, 2019; it was named in June 2020; and it was completed and opened to traffic on July 1, 2020.
The Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiangyin Yangtze River Highway-Rail Bridge starts from Zhangjiagang City, Suzhou City in the south and ends at Tongzhou District, Nantong City in the north. The total length of the bridge is 11.072 kilometers (of which the combined highway-rail bridge is 6,989 meters long), including a 5,827-meter-long main bridge between the embankments on both sides, a 1,876-meter-long north approach bridge, and a 3,369-meter-long south approach bridge; the upper level of the bridge is a six-lane bidirectional expressway (Tongxi Expressway) with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour; the lower level is a four-track railway in both directions with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour (Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiangyin Railway) and 250 kilometers per hour (Tongsu Jiaxing-Ningbo High-Speed Railway).
Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge adopts a steel truss cable-stayed bridge structure with a main span of 1,092 meters. It is the world’s first dual-use cable-stayed bridge with a span of over one kilometer, independently designed and built in China. The design and construction technology has achieved five “world firsts”.
In order to achieve the span of more than kilometers of the Shanghai-Sutong Yangtze River Railway Bridge and solve the problems of the main tower height and large volume, the builders have developed new materials and selected high-performance waterproof coatings by adjusting the mix ratio, which has solved the problems of difficult construction and non-crack resistance. This waterproof coating not only guarantees the quality, but also has the characteristics of high flow state, high and low temperature resistance.

It has high strength, good water resistance, and good resistance to high and low temperatures. Special waterproof coating for railway bridges.

It can be constructed on wet roofs and is exposed without a protective layer. It is suitable for use as a light energy-saving roof and large projects, etc.
This project was accomplished due to the coordinated efforts of the contractor, architect and engineer. Yuru is proud to be one of the suppliers of the products needed on this project and without this team effort, the project would not have been successful.
